Brownsville, Texas – JW Davis, Chief Operations Officer, (COO), of Gateway Global Group and Martin 'Bob' Metzger, Chief Financial Officer, (CFO), recently took the opportunity to Thank Brownsville City Officials, Brownsville South Padre Island International Airport Officials, Brownsville Economic Development Council Officials and Brownsville Convention & Visitors Bureau Officials and many others for their hospitality and interest in Gateway Global Groups proposed Development of their Hotel, Convention Center and Arena project slated for the Airport.
The development named the Gateway Global Skyplex will be a commercial real estate project of a Hotel, Convention Center/Arena slated for completion around the same time of the new Brownsville South Padre International Airports new 55,000 passenger terminal is scheduled for completion. The Skyplex project is being projected in six phases and includes many other project developments for the Skyplex area.
“We would like to Thank all of the City of Brownsville Officials who extended their hospitality, interest and guidance about our proposed projects,” said Gateway's CEO, JW Davis. “The City of Brownsville showed us such class with their interest in our projects. My deep appreciation goes out to Michael Warrix, Planning and Zoning Director, Charlie Cabler, City Manager, Evaristo Gamez, Permitting Director, Ruth Osuna, Assistant City Manager, Patty Gonzales, Public Relations Officer, Howard Slackman, City Commissioner and Pedro 'Pete' Gonalez, Deputy City Manager. All of these officials are some of the finest people I have ever met,” Davis said.
Also, Metzger and Davis met several times with Brownsville Economic Development Council officials. “I would like to thank Lizzy Putegnat, Director of Business Retention & Expansion for her kindness and patience in listening to my first presentation of our projects. She was just an extraordinary person in my book,” Davis said. “JW and I would also like to Thank the entire staff of the Economic Council, Sylvia Rodriguez, Office Manager, Marketing, Coordinator & Web Specialist, Janie Velasquez, Assistant to the President, Ariana Mata, Office Assistant for their kindness in talking with us and getting us all the material we requested. The Economic Development Council in Brownsville is so lucky to have these officials and young ladies on their council,” CFO Martin Metzger said.
“Some of the other officials we met and had meetings with were Larry Brown, Director of Aviation, Brownsville South Padre Island International Airport, Sesha S. Vorrey, Chief Operations Officer, and John Doude, Airport Operations Supervisor. These officials were also some of the finest people I have ever been fortunate enough to meet,” Davis said. “Larry was so enthusiastic about the Airport and his position there, he just impressed me so much. Especially his “Fly Brownsville” go get em attitude. What a super guy!,” Davis said. “On my last meeting there, Larry came down with an illness and I was so saddened to be informed of that. Our hearts and Prayers are with Larry Brown and his family as he recovers from this illness,” he said.
“We also were privileged to meet with Brownsville Convention & Visitors Bureau officials, Felix Espinosa, Administrative Manager, and Mariano 'Bean' Ayala, President and CEO. These two guys were just some of the finest professional officials, very knowledgeable and very helpful. This City is just very lucky in also having these two officials,” Davis said.
“It is very obvious that the City of Brownsville is headed into the 21st century with the planned building of the SpaceX launch facility 17 miles from the airport and the construction of the new airport terminal. Gateway Global Group is very proud to be involved in building the Hotel, Convention Center and Arena Skyplex at the airport, as well as many other projects in and around the airport and Spaceplex area of Brownsville. Gateway Global Groups commercial developments in the airport Skyplex area and the planned Spaceplex area have been given the full support of City of Brownsville and Airport Officials. Airport and city officials have agreed to set aside property for the development.
